Bluearth National Coach Training is a time all staff look forward to, to come together and review the last term, plan the coming term and importantly continue to develop and explore our knowledge and experience of movement, wellbeing and physical activity.
Given the pandemic and travel restrictions the October get together was mostly online. A small group gathered in Wangaratta and the remainder of staff joined via their laptops. Online delivery has become a reality of our programs, it will never be as effective as face to face however we have got pretty good at it and many Bluearth schools have appreciated the live and recorded sessions that we have been providing during school home learning. The final term of the year may see some additional challenges for students and schools and we dedicated a large part of training to preparing all Bluearth Coaches for this eventuality.
Highlights from training included workshops on the Language of Coaching, Bluearth and the Post Pandemic Response and a great presentation from board member Pierre Comis on Physical Literacy – a concept that is increasingly being used in education settings to support physical, social and psychological development. Look out for an upcoming Online Teacher Workshop (18 November) on this topic.
All staff have been inspired and energised coming out of training and are looking forward to finishing off a difficult year in the best way possible.
